Golf Travel Wales

The golf enthusiast will be delighted to learn that there are over 170 clubs in Wales.

Modern Wales is a confident, forward-looking country with its own National Assembly. The coalmines have gone, high-tech companies have moved in. 'Quality of life' is good in the modern Wales of today.

Wales has some of the best golf in Britain. Wales have, been successful in its bid to host the 2010 Ryder Cup. Some of Wales's fantastic links courses are reckoned to be amongst the finest in the world. With so much green and rolling countryside, you can look forward to superb golf everywhere - not to mention a warm welcome and great-value green fees.

Until quite recently, golf in Wales was one of Britain's best-kept secrets. But now the secret's out. World-class courses and small and friendly local clubs are all part of a great golfing scene that's going from strength to strength.

There are around 170 golf courses in Wales, a many and varied collection that offers something for every golfer.

You can choose between challenging championship-standard links courses and friendly nine-holers, breezy hilltop courses and immaculate fairways set in green farmland.

Pride of place must go to the doyens of Welsh golf, Royal Porthcawl ('one of the world's best courses') and the magnificent Royal St David's at Harlech, where you play in the shadow of a mighty medieval castle.

But Wales isn't resting on its laurels. The world-class Celtic Manor Resort, venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup, is a truly outstanding newcomer.
